about us

Publisher and Editor

Colleen Strohm grew up in a journalistic family.

Her father published the local newspaper in Woodstock, Illinois (population 10k) and later founded National and International Wildlife magazines, where her brother worked.

Colleen and her five siblings spent a whole day critiquing every issue of both magazines in the living room each year .

Otherwise, Colleen has zero experience working in journalism. So why did she launch The South Wasco Times?

Simply because no one else would. Despite a unanimous agreement among her friends that our region needed a newspaper, no one stepped up. So Colleen did. Thus was born The South Wasco Times.

Colleen is dedicated to just and accurate reporting on the crucial issues that matter to all of us throughout the south county.

She also hopes that the feature stories on different people will help all of us get to know our neighbors better. She believes familiarity breeds compassion, as well as unity.
